I am replacing an old Ford 1000 that threw a rod this winter, my local JD dealer has a couple of new 2WD 4300's with the hydro trans, turf tires, and loader valve on the lot for 12K. What do you guys think of the price? I have been doing business with the dealer for about 5 years with my lawn mowers and have had superior service.

Thanks for your input Steve

The price seems good, but if you want a loader you'll really need 4wd. ....

maybe using r4 tires. two wheel drive isn't much help when using
the fel. ....

Steve; Sounds like the dealer is offering you a fair price. But I'm afraid you'll be buying an orphan. Unless you have a special puropse that doesn't require much traction and plan to keep it forever, don't buy it. 4wd is an absolute must in almost any use situation especially if you plan on geting a loader. R4 tires are the only tire you should consider, again unless you have a special need for them, turf tires are almost impossible to trade off around here. Frank. ....

Thanks for the info, I think the 2wd is why the dealer has this machine left over. My dealer has a 4310 arriving tomorrow. I think I will check that out first.

I apprecite all the feedback, this board and memebers are a great resource. ....
